Frequently Asked Questions
Do you support hospital births, birth centers, and home births?
Yes! I support families planning hospital births, birth center births, and home births. My role is to provide continuous, evidence-based, nonjudgmental support wherever you choose to welcome your baby.
What areas do you serve?
I primarily serve Central Florida, including Lake, Orange, Seminole, Sumter, Marion, Polk, Osceola, and surrounding counties. Travel outside my standard service area may be available for an additional fee.
What is included in birth doula support?
Each birth package includes prenatal planning, continuous labor support, immediate postpartum support after birth, and ongoing communication throughout your pregnancy. The exact details vary by package, but every client receives personalized care tailored to their needs.
When should I hire a doula?
The earlier, the better! Hiring early allows us to build a relationship, prepare for your birth, and ensure you have continuous support throughout pregnancy. That said, I welcome clients at any stage of pregnancy whenever my availability allows.
Can I still hire a doula if I’m planning an epidural?
Absolutely! Doulas support all types of births. Whether you’re planning an unmedicated birth, epidural, induction, scheduled cesarean, or VBAC, my role is to help you feel informed, supported, and confident in your decisions.
Do you support VBACs and high-risk pregnancies?
Yes! I have additional training in supporting VBAC families and high-risk pregnancies. While I do not provide medical care, I work alongside your healthcare team to offer education, emotional support, comfort measures, and advocacy for informed decision-making.
What happens if you are attending another birth?
I take my on-call commitment very seriously. In the rare event that I am unavailable due to another birth or an emergency, I have trusted backup doulas who share a similar philosophy of care so you will never labor without support.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes! I believe every family deserves quality birth support. Flexible payment plans are available, and I also offer limited sliding-scale options based on financial need.
Do you accept insurance or Medicaid?
I accept private pay clients and may be able to bill select insurance plans or Medicaid, depending on your coverage and eligibility. Contact me to discuss your specific plan.
Do you offer placenta encapsulation?
Yes! Placenta encapsulation is available as an add-on service or as a standalone service, depending on availability. Please reach out for pricing and additional information.
What makes your approach different?
I believe birth is designed with purpose. My goal is not simply to help you cope with labor, but to help you understand your options, trust your body, and feel supported throughout the process. I provide evidence-based education, hands-on comfort techniques, emotional encouragement, and faith-centered support for families who desire it, while honoring every client’s individual beliefs and preferences.
How do I get started?
Simply reach out through my contact form! We’ll schedule a complimentary consultation so we can get to know each other, discuss your birth goals, answer your questions, and determine if we’re the right fit.
Do you attend planned free births?
While I support every family’s right to make informed decisions about their birth, including the decision to birth without medical providers present, I do not attend planned free births. I am honored to support families planning hospital births, birth center births, and attended home births with a licensed midwife. If you’re still exploring your options, I’m happy to provide evidence-based education so you can make the decision that feels right for you and your family.
